Styling counter tops can be a daunting task when you are just not sure what works best. It can be hard to find the balance of making your kitchen look lived in vs making your kitchen look cluttered. After all, we still want to see the countertops and backsplashes! I have compiled a top 5 list of ways to style your kitchen counters.

  1.  Fresh fruit for all

A bowl of fresh fruit such as lemons, limes, or oranges stand out on a kitchen counter. If you have a light colored backsplash, the vibrant yellow of a lemon really pops! Fruit also adds texture to your space. A bowl of bright apples, that may vary in shades of red and yellow appears to add texture, and is pleasing to the eye. You can also try using a wired bowl or basket to really display the fruit to its fullest potential.

2. Potted plants are your friend

Potted plants are one of the best ways to style your kitchen counters. Flowers and greenery bring color and vibrancy to your space. Fake or real, either works. (I know, not all of us are lucky enough to have a green thumb!) Put the greens in a vase that match the stye of your kitchen, and BAM just like that your kitchen counter tops have added personality!

  1. Use trays to group kitchen essentials

Trays are a great way to keep kitchen essentials in one place. If you have items that you want left on the counter at all times, this is a great way to arrange those items. Remember, grouping in odd numbers always looks most pleasing to the eye! Trays also work great if you enjoy displaying a pitcher of lemonade, or bottled drinks on the counter with glassware for easy access.

  1. Display cutting boards and cookbooks

Do you have a really nice cookbook that deserves a spot on the countertop? Or a cookbook that you use daily? Don’t be afraid to display them on the counter. Rest the book against your backsplash or open it up to a recipe and prop it up on a stand for all to see! Likewise, a cutting board or two propped against the wall or laying flat is an unexpected, but beautiful way to add dimension and personality to your kitchen counters.

  1. Get creative with your utensil holders

I love being able to use items for reasons other than what they were meant for. A flower pot for utensils? You bet! This look is sure to stand out, and it works great for its intended purpose. You can also try using a vase, or another container that may add color and character to your countertops!

Now go on and give your kitchen the beautiful look it deserves!
