February is known as the month of love and everything just feels right about that when it comes to the 2021 Design Trends!

Tucked deep inside the chill of winter, is this emphasis to celebrate love. The warmth, coziness, and safety of love make our houses turn into homes. It is our homes that both feel and reflect love. We want to celebrate the month with you by sharing our favorite design trends for 2021.

Color

Each year, the major paint companies pick their color(s) of the year. It is always fun to see what they predict will be the hot colors of the year. Implementing these colors in your home, whether it is an entire room, an accent wall, a piece of furniture, or fun accessories, will keep your home updated and trendy!

Check out these 2021 colors:

Style

2020 was a year that changed the way we lived our daily lives.  We moved from being away from our homes all day long, to working in our homes all day long! This move back into our homes for 24 hours a day has changed the design trends for 2021. Let’s look at some of our favorites!

Comfort and Function

If we are going to be in our homes, we want to be comfortable and function well so that we can be productive. Almost every other design trend to follow will incorporate comfort and function.

Nostalgic, Vintage, or Traditional Design

Designs of yesterday are bringing a feeling of the known in a time of many unknowns. We are seeing a resurge of the Victorian, Art Deco, or Traditional styles. We are getting away from the modern, contemporary and cool tones and reaching back to our roots of what we felt was home. Be prepared to see velvet, ruffles, gilded finishes, floral prints, plush pillows, orb pillows, ottomans, slipcovered sofas, classic prints, and simple silhouettes.

Easy to Clean Materials and Surfaces

Living in your home daily means more spills, and more wear and tear yet we are just as busy as ever. Making sure our surfaces are easy to clean and care for will be a must this year.

Back to Nature Natural Materials

Nature is so calming. Stress melts away, we breathe easier and we know we are in a good place. Bringing this into our homes brings the calm with it. Be prepared to see rattan, cane webbing, light-toned wood, jute, leather, ceramic, and live plants. Even  beige and earthy browns will be seen in paint colors again.

 Separate Living Spaces

With so many needing to zoom or video conference calls with clients, it is hard to live in all of our open floor spaces with no privacy. We will see a trend in closed floor plans, or dividing walls that will provide private zoning and cozy world nooks.

 Sustainable Furnishings

Design Trends in 2021 will move away from cheap box store furniture and investing in pieces that will last a lifetime. Finding comfort in something that will last is reflected in the furniture we choose for our homes.

 Stay-All-Day Backyards

Why not work and play at the same time? Backyards that are inviting, comfortable, and work-friendly invite you to stay all day. We will see people spending more time in the fresh air and sunshine in 2021. Quick and affordable shade-giving structures will make dining, working or relaxing worth every penny invested.

As you can see, the design trends that we love in 2021 are all about loving our homes…which makes us really happy! We love seeing people live and enjoy the people and spaces they call home. Maybe this trend is one that should stick around from now on.
