I know, It’s officially November (Holiday Season is here!!) But that does not mean we can’t be dreaming of coastal living and warmer weather. Especially if you are like us and currently in shorts and a tank in the 80 degree heat. So, let’s talk about paint colors, specifically the colors of the coast!

Setting the Mood

Blue is the ultimate color of all things beach and coastal. Why? because when you are at the beach your mood reflects tranquility, peace, and calmness. The ocean gives off beautiful shades of blues and teals that make us Ooh and Aah every day!

So, How Do You Choose the Perfect Coastal Blue?

Blue can range from almost icy white to a deep midnight sky. It is one of the most versatile colors, and choosing which blue to use in your coastal space can be overwhelming. The first step is to start with one shade of blue that captures your attention. Close your eyes, picture the ocean or blue sky, and now open them. What shade of blue did you see? I saw a Blue Diamond blue (like shown in the photo above!) A soft color that can also look bright and cheerful when covering large spaces. From there, it is easiest to pick two or three colors a few shades lighter, and a color that is a shade darker to add dimension and contrast to your coastal home!

Always remember, that any bright color should be paired with a neutral color. A sandy beige, a light cool grey or white are great neutrals to combine with our coastal blues. If you paint your walls blue, you are going to want neutral furniture. Then, you can accent the furniture with the other shades of blue you have chosen for the pillows, blankets, and center pieces on the coffee table. Neutralizing a room will keep it from looking too busy or over crowded.

Did you know, statistically, Blue is the world’s favorite color!? Hop on the trend and go coastal!
