We’ve been working on gathering the best tips for a DIY home update before you put your house on the market, or simply want some fresh ideas for your spaces at home! Let’s start in the bathrooms. They might be the smallest spaces, but one of the most important in a home! (Who doesn’t love a luxurious and updated master bath?!) Check out our budget friendly tips below.

1. How to get rid of grimy bathroom walls

Here is a simple way to get rid of surface mold: Mix a spray bottle with one part water and one part bleach. Spray it on the wall, and watch the mold start to disappear. Then, give it a fresh coat of paint, and your grimy bathroom will go from red flag to red-hot!

2. How to make those glass shower doors stay shiny!

A grimy glass shower door can really wash out your sale, and make your bathroom look dirty. Instead of replacing it, just clean it with a mixture of one part muriatic acid and about 10 parts water. Scrub it down with steel wool and that glass will look good as new!

3. How to avoid dated tile by painting

Bathrooms sell houses, but dated tile in a bathroom doesn’t. A low-cost alternative to replacing the tile is to use paint. It looks just as good and new! First coat the tiles with a high-adhesion primer. Next, brush on a special ceramic epoxy covering. For a fraction of the cost of new tile, you will have an up-to-date bathroom that brings in big bucks.

4. How to update your vanity

A little paint goes a long way if you have dated cabinets! Another option is simply replacing faucets and knobs with a brushed nickel or chrome finish (timeless!) to help your space look fresh and give it a little facelift.
