Gobble up these Thanksgiving table decoration ideas

Ahh, the warm and cozy feeling that comes with Thanksgiving.  Taking the time to slow down and gather around the table to enjoy a meal as a family is priceless.  If you are anything like me, I often put undue pressure on myself to make sure everything is perfectly decorated and looking its best before my first guest arrives.

This year I vowed to take the pressure off myself and do just a few simple Thanksgiving table decorations instead.

To get started I grabbed a cup of tea, pulled myself up to my computer and went looking for some inspiration.  I just love Pinterest! There are so many ideas I have a hard time picking my favorites. After spending more time than I should have, I closed my laptop and started to let my own creative ideas come to life. But before I begin to work on my own decorations, I wanted to share a few Thanksgiving decorating tips with you.

Keep the following things in mind when setting your Thanksgiving holiday table.

  1. Repeating patterns or colors make a beautiful statement. This can be achieved by limiting decorations to a few decorative elements in a few colors.
  2. The soft warming effect of scentless candles helps set the mood for a holiday meal. They should be short, such as votives, so they do not interfere with conversation when your guests are seated around the table. Classic ivory-colored candles go with virtually any setting and color palette.
  3. Select a few items to set the mood for the season. Such as dried flowers, apples, pumpkins, nuts, leaves, dried herbs, and even bare branches.
  4. Keep centerpieces low so people can see over them and talk to those sitting across from them.
  5. Add a pop of color to your table by incorporating things you already have purchased for your dinner menu.
  6. Dig out that pretty pitcher or heirloom vase and use it to store extra napkins or fill those treasured pieces with fresh flowers. It’s the simplest things that can turn a holiday table into something festive.
