Professional Organization Tips
We are all guilty of it …the unlock the door and toss. Drop anything that is in our hands on the nearest surface. Mail, keys, bookbags, purses, and whatever else we carry in with us. During our professional organizing sessions, it’s the one area that we can make the most significant impact with just a few simple additions. Now, while we won’t give all of our organizing secrets away, we do want to share with you a few simple tips that will help you get rid of the chaos at your front door.
To show you how easy it is to bring order to your entryway we encourage you to add a few of these storage ideas to tidy up your front door area.
Add a Pretty Basket
Take a few extra minutes when you first get home to sort through the pile of mail you brought in. Place an attractive trash can near your drop off point to make easy waste of unwanted items.
A Place for Everything
You know the saying …a place for everything and everything in its place. That couldn’t be truer for hats, coats, and sweaters. The easiest way to control front door clutter is having a specific spot to hang all those items that generally end up on backs of chairs and in piles on the floor. Choose stylish, but durable heavy hooks and pegs that can stand up to the weight of heavy items without sliding off.
Have you seen my keys?
It’s the number one question asked in disorderly homes and the one thing that can make a normally calm person panic. It doesn’t matter what you choose, but dedicate one thing to be the place where all keys reside. A pretty dish, a key rack, or even a tray, but keep it small enough that you won’t have room to store anything else in it.
Pick up those shoes!
Do you remember those words from your mother? I sure do. My mother’s pet peeve was shoes. She hated tripping over them, she hated looking at them and she scolded us more about shoes than anything else. That was until the day my father built her a custom shoe rack. She was finally in shoe heaven! If shoes get under your skin as well find pretty ways to store them so they are not in any ones way as they enter your home.
A Place to Plug-In
We all have them, phones, iPads, tablets, and laptops. But what most homes neglect to have is a central location to store all of those cords and chargers. Having one dedicated place to store and charge your tech gadgets only makes sense. Adding an area near your front door is the best spot in the house, so they are within reach as you head out the door.
These are just a few easy tips to help make your entryway less chaotic.
