Navy and copper are two very different colors that complement each other beautifully.
Navy is a dark, rich color that can be used to contrast or create an elegant style. Copper is a warm color that brings out the warmth in any space it’s added to. These colors work well together because they have so much contrast, but also complement each other nicely with their shared earth tones of browns and yellows. They are both colors that evoke feelings of sophistication and elegance, which makes them excellent choices for decorating one’s home for fall.
Fall is just around the corner, and it is time to get your creative juices flowing to bring the beauty of the season into our homes. As you look around your home, there are so many wonderful opportunities to bring the latest styles of the season into your decor and design.
Including:
- Tablescapes
- Doors
- Fireplace mantles
- Throws and pillows
- Bedding
Since we have talked about how to implement decor in some of these places before, I want to take us on a different journey this month. I will actually hand you a blueprint of ideas that you can truly copycat into your homes. So, come on. We are going “shopping” this month with wonderful ideas for your home. I would love for you to comment and share your pics with me, or contact me if you need help!
Front Porch
Allow the feel of fall to start in your entrance. A warm welcome begins with fun decorating decisions. You can be formal or fun, classy or cute, simple or sensational! It doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is you bring the theme outside to give everyone a sample of what they are about to meet inside. Again, bounce those touches of copper (even just the orange of a real pumpkin hints at the copper tones) among the navy so that your eyes will follow the color. Whether that is the navy buffalo checked rug, the denim of the scarecrows, or the throw blankets of your outdoor dining spaces, you can see that your eye is pleased with the mixture and placement of these colors. These sample pictures do a fine job of demonstrating this for us!
Living Room
This beautiful, calming palette from Willshire Collections is stunning. Simple. Classy. It doesn’t scream scarecrows or leaves. However, it unashamedly says, “Fall is here. Come sit awhile.” There is so much that you can reproduce from these photos. Many home stores sell different shapes and colors of pumpkins, but even simple pumpkins or gourds spray painted in sage, copper, cream or navy would do the trick! The fireplace staging is balanced between the floor and the mantle, the lamb’s ear filler in the table arrangement adds a softness to the strong wooden tray, and the layering of textures and patterns in the pillows on the sofa leads us to want to snuggle in with a good book.
Dining Room
This gorgeous dining room from Cotten Stem with its warm, wood tones brings out the copper accents. It doesn’t take a lot to make a statement. Notice the bounce of your eye from the copper on the mantle to the canister on the table to the touch of copper pumpkins on the plate settings. Take cues that large and chunky can work! Few, well-placed, large pieces set on a simple background make a grand statement.
