Wondering what adjustments your home needs in order to be the perfect living place? This year, we can see a lot of vintage trends rising from the forgotten depths, but we can also experience a rise in contemporary design. However, 2019 home design is all about feeling good in one’s home, which is why many trends are oriented towards convenient and cozy living. We have listed out some of the trends you shouldn’t miss out on when deciding how to elevate your home in the best possible way.

Sustainable living

Even though some might argue with facts standing behind climate change, scientists have made it more than clear that Earth is not going to be a good living place for much longer. Lots of waste and pollution come from our own homes, which is why homeowners and designers alike are encouraged to strive for sustainability. By choosing materials that are reusable, long-lasting and recycled, all of us are doing our home planet a favor and getting one step closer to saving it. Plus, natural fabrics sourced from sustainable plantations are perfect additions to any home design.

zen garden

Zen garden essentials

In order to create a perfect relaxation place, you should consider turning your garden into a Zen wonderland. This year, spa-inspired outdoor design is an enormous trend, mostly because people are more in need of their very own garden sanctuary. You don’t have to get out of the city every time you want to take a rest from a long work week, but rather enjoy a spa pool in your own garden. Installing a luxury spa in your outdoor house area is the best long-term investment you can make to improve your spiritual wellness and overall mental wellbeing.

Everlasting neutrals

When in doubt, always go for the neutral solution, because some trends never die. Neutral siding colors and simple trim work with just a bit of contrast will always be needed. They have been used in all kinds of interior design from Hollywood Regency to Art deco, and will continue to be everlasting because of their blending qualities. You can imagine incorporating pastel nudes with bright colors, natural elements, glam design and even concrete (which is also very popular in interior design this year).

back back to black

Back to black

While millennial pink and floral prints have been roaming through interior design for some time, designers are now turning towards more high contrast, yet soothing colors. Black is the new pink, and dark colors are back in the game. Matte black can already be seen in a lot of bathroom designs, but it’s becoming more popular to use black to make strong statement effects, such as painting the entire walls or facades. Colors that work very well can also be charcoal or navy, while a great way to incorporate them could be to choose a dark-colored front door, too.

Blurred lines between in and out

By bringing the inside out, you can bring your home as close to nature as possible. Many people who have unused garden space decide on moving their kitchen outdoors and repurposing the extra room inside. Fire pits, portable heaters and covered roofs make this extravagant architectural experiment possible during colder days, too. It’s also a trend to bring the outside in by making your home bloom with life, and plants are a great way to do so. Incorporating a bit of greenery in every room and spreading more of your home to the outside will definitely blur the line between in and out.

metallic tones

Metallic tones

You can describe 2019 home accessory trends simply as metal mania. Incorporating a metallic accent in any design will give it a cutting edge. The complete dominance of brass is evident in bathroom and kitchen design, and gold detailing is ruling over everything else. These rich, metallic tones add sophistication and a notion of luxury to any room, and they are the easiest way to make everything seem chic and refined. When choosing brass, be careful to go for ornate, but avoid stuffy. Accents and accessories that look great in metallic tones are lamps, mirrors and frames.

Whatever design you choose to go with, just remember that this year is all about feeling good, so think mainly about how you can improve your home not to look better, but to feel better. Every hour of work and every dollar your pay will be worth it if you succeeded in improving your lifestyle by elevating your home design.
