We bet you’re excited to get started with your new home decorating project.
But before we can make your home beautiful, we need you to know a few things about you first.
We understand the process of hiring an interior decorator can seem overwhelming, especially when you are trusting someone else to bring your vision to life. Whether you are refreshing a single room or renovating an entire home, we want to help you achieve the design of your dreams.
We have four important things you’ll need to know before your initial decorating consultation.
Know Your Style
What do you like? Do like the clean lines of contemporary furniture or the trendy farmhouse style? Do the colors of a beach-inspired room make smile or the earthy tones of a mountain retreat call your name? If you don’t know what your design style is by collecting images of rooms that inspire you. Use Pinterest or decorating magazines to start an idea book of your preferred design style. You can even look around your home for an inspiration piece to get started. If you aren’t sure of a color palette we often we tell our customers they can find their favorite color by visiting their closet.
Know Your Budget
We understand every homeowner has their limit, and it is possible to stay within a budget. Knowing how much you can spend beforehand will help with unrealistic expectations during the design process. Be realistic and honest with your budget. Make a list of your project details and share it with your decorator during your consultation. Most decorators will be open and honest if they feel they can accomplish everything on your wish lists within your budget.
Know Your Timeline
The scale and depth of your project will determine its timeline. No matter how diligence a decorator is, things come up that will affect a schedule. Being understanding and open with your expectations and be prepared for your life to be interrupted during the design process.
Know Your Inspiration
As we mentioned before and inspiration folder is a must if you want your decorator to fully understand your style. Save an array of room designs, color combinations furniture layouts and accessory styles. The more you have saved the closer to a decorator can get to your vision.
If you do your homework first, the decorating process will be fun and exciting and most of all a huge success.
