Ways Accessorizing Your Home and Dressing Yourself Are Similar

Did you know that accessorizing your home is like dressing yourself in many ways? Accessories are the jewelry of your outfit or room. When purchasing accessories for your home or wardrobe, you need to think about what they will accentuate. What sweater, what couch, what dress, what window treatment coordinates with them. What flaws in your room or physique do you want to play down or highlight?

Accessories are a set of articles that add completeness, convenience, or attractiveness to ones’ basic outfit or room.

Here are some examples:

1. Accessories should add harmony in a room or to an outfit. Just as your earrings, necklace, and bracelet could repeat one color in your dress. Pillows could repeat a color in your living room rug.
2. The accent pieces have to fit the style/scale of the room or attire. You wouldn’t wear a heavy woolen scarf with a light-weight summer dress. Likewise, you wouldn’t put a huge vase which barely fits on top of a bookcase.
3. Accessories should complement one another. You may choose to wear silver jewelry with your shoes and handbag that have silver accent pieces on them. You may choose to keep all of your metal pieces in a room the same finish. However, sometimes, adding a bit of contrast can make an outfit or room more appealing. Today, we do mix metals when decorating and when accessorizing our clothing to add a little interest.
4. Accessories can maximize good points or minimize flaws in a room as well as your physique. For example,  a person with a full torso would be self-conscious about their heavy upper body. However, balancing it out with flare leg jeans will improve this proportion by making it look less heavy in comparison. To make a room look larger, and uncluttered, you may want to minimize the number of decorative accessories you place in that room.
