Do you only have 10 minutes to get out of the house before it will be shown?

Maybe the most difficult part of having your home on the market is having it ready to show- constantly! Here are some ideas if you only have a bit of time to pull it together.

1. Get a game plan. The first thing you need to do is figure out the overall appearance of your home and what things look the worse. Mentally figure out what could be done and how time-consuming each task is. What is going to get your biggest return on time? Now get moving beginning with the most important!
2. Kitchen & Baths. These areas are the most important. What are the potential buyers going to think if these areas are filthy? Yuck! Throw all the dishes in the dishwasher, at least for storage. Put any clutter on countertops in cabinets or the pantry. Wipe down all surfaces,  sinks and put down toilet seats.
3. Take a quick lap through the house and grab anything laying around. If you don’t have time to put these things away- who cares! You can temporary place these things in the garage or closet without shame. Just try to place them somewhere that would be unnoticed.
4. Trouble keeping up with the kids? It seems the toughest thing is for families to keep their homes from looking like a jungle gym. Invest in a few large baskets to store their toys in and place them on the floor of the closet or even along the wall. It will look a million times better than all over the floor.
5. Spot cleaning approved. Flooring is an important thing to have clean when showing a home but can be very time consuming. Hopefully you have time to pull out the vacuum & don’t be afraid to use it on all the flooring. Feel free to run it through the kitchen and bathrooms. It’s much quick than pulling out the broom & dust pan.
6. Just a minute to spare? Fluff those pillows, straighten out bedding and pick up any debris outside on your way out.

Sounds simple doesn’t it? It may take a few run throughs but it really is that easy. Now just think- if you did part of these tasks every other day, a clean home would be a breeze. Such as life, make sure your priorities are right and you’ll be smooth sailing. Good luck!
