Hello there! I don’t know about you guys, but I decorate for fall and Halloween on September 1st.

I turn on Harry Potter, clean my whole place, light a fall candle, and then decorate!

I know not everyone likes to decorate for fall and most people don’t start decorating until the first day of fall. If this is your first time decorating for fall, maybe you want to get more bang for your buck with your fall decor, or you just love fall decor like me, this blog post is for you!

There are a few items and ideas that can really make a nice touch without filling your entire place with fall and Halloween decor to make an impact (unless that is your thing). I’ve listed a few things down below that I do in my own home and will help you find your perfect fall balance.

Happy first day of fall!

Choose a Theme

Are you more of a traditional girl in love with those classic oranges, deep reds, and yellows, or maybe you’re a spooky all-black Halloween gal? To get a cohesive look and get the most for your money, it’s important to nail down a look you love. There are so many options when deciding on what you want, so I suggest looking on Pinterest and pinning some fall decor looks you love. I know this year the popular theme is blue! Blue pumpkins, blue accents, blue everything.

Find the Perfect Wreath

I feel like a good wreath is like the perfect bow on your favorite present. You could make your own or head to your local Micheals, HomeGoods, or favorite store to find your perfect wreath. It should tie into your theme and be something you look forward to seeing when you get home after a long day. It also tells your guests that your place is inviting and gets them excited too. If you want to, add a matching doormat and maybe a few pumpkins from your local pumpkin patch to complete the look.

Pick up a cute garland!

A great garland can take up empty space, lay on an entertainment stand, or drape across your favorite pieces. The options are endless with garlands. You probably have the traditional leaf garlands, a fun felt garland or even a pumpkin garland. I have the best luck finding garlands at Home Goods.

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins!

Whether your style is more on the traditional side or on the Halloween side, pumpkins are the perfect fit in your home. I don’t know if you’ve been to Hobby Lobby but they have a wall of pumpkins… floor to ceiling. Maybe stop by if you have one near you. Try to find some pumpkins that you love and think will last; maybe glass, wood, or something unexpected. The options are endless!

Halloween pillows

Throw a pillow on it!

Everyone has a couch or some sort of seating in their home and a super-easy way to change it up is to get some cute throw pillows! If you’re like me, it’s easy to go overboard with throw pillows. I mean who wouldn’t want more comfort and fall decor in one. Find a few sizes, some bigger, some rectangular and watch out for too many sayings. A lot of fall and Halloween pillows have sayings on them so maybe pick one with a saying and two or three patterned or plain pillows to give a great balance.

I hope some or all of these fall decorating tips help you find the perfect fall decor balance in your home! Once your home is all decorated, it will get you so excited for the rest of the season. Have fun mixing and matching and finding those perfect pieces. Enjoy those pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters, and fall candles in your newly decorated place!
