With the a/c finally kicking on in Florida, it’s time to get your home prepped for summer. We have come up with 5 great ideas to get your home ready and stay organized with the heat wave on it’s way.

1.   Start with your closets! You won’t be needing those sweaters, jeans or coats for at least five months so move them out. I love to designate one of my guest bedroom closets to the “other season” clothing. Also think about your linen closets. Time to bring those beach towels and sunscreens out!

2.    What’s cookin in the kitchen? Probably not anything that has to do with a crock pot. Could you rotate out with a blender or something else that may get more use this season? Use those hard to reach cabinets for things you don’t seasonally use.

3.    Is your bedding, toss pillows or towels feeling a bit heavy? We love to bring in splashes of color through inexpensive items that can be swapped out. Forget that big bulky comforter; check out Homegoods for an inexpensive and weight appropriate bed cover. Swap out those dark hand towels or pillows on your sofa while you are there.

4.    Revive your tired accessories! Along with your spring cleaning, take a look at the smaller items that are in your home. If your front door mat looks older than Hugh Heffner- throw it out! Do you have greenery that looks like it survived a tornado or worse- the 70’s? Time to start over.

5.   How about the garage? How about jazzing up this over looked space. Organization in the garage is number one but it is also an easy place to give a little personality. Does the Jones’ have their garage walls painted a cool color? Nope. If your garage floor has spots and stains- again- paint it! Just don’t blame us when the man of the household wants to sleep here.
